Winter Storm Warning 120513

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 6 PM CST Friday.

* Timing... freezing rain and sleet will overspread the area early
this evening... with the precipitation transitioning to sleet
and snow overnight. The precipitation will come to an end as
snow from west to east Friday afternoon.

* Amounts... ice accumulations of a tenth to a half of an inch will
be possible mainly tonight... with the greatest amounts over
west Kentucky... the southern tip of Illinois and the Missouri
Boot Heel region. 2 to 6 inches of sleet and snow are expected
on top of the glaze during the day Friday. The greatest snow and
sleet amounts will be across the Evansville tri state area.

* Main impacts... treacherous driving conditions will develop from
west to east across the area tonight and continue through
Friday. Some isolated power outages cannot be ruled out... where
freezing rain is most prevalent.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow...
sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If
you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
